Interceptor Cleaning & Maintenance Solutions
Safe, compliant and cost-effective solutions for interceptor waste
On-Site Interceptor Waste Treatment
Ambipar provides legal and compliant on-site treatment of interceptor waste using state-of-the-art equipment. Our fully computer-controlled unit is equipped with online analysers that automatically shut the system down if discharge levels fail to meet compliance standards.
Each operation generates a full report, printed on-site and provided directly to the client, ensuring transparency and traceability.
Waste Collection and Disposal Options
In addition to on-site treatment, Ambipar offers flexible collection and disposal services, including:
-
Groupage collection for smaller interceptor volumes
-
Bulk collection using combination articulated suction units with a capacity of up to 27,000 litres
Whatever the requirement, Ambipar delivers a cost-effective and compliant solution for interceptor waste management.
Confined Space Entry Expertise
Interceptor cleaning often involves confined space entry. Ambipar’s fully trained teams, supported by specialist equipment, ensure that all confined space works are carried out safely and in compliance with industry best practice.
Regulatory Requirements
The legal framework for service stations and fuel storage facilities is set out under the:
-
Dangerous Substances (Flammable Liquids & Fuels Retail Stores) Regulations 2019 (SI 630/2019)
-
Dangerous Substances (Flammable Liquids & Fuels Distribution and Commercial Supply Stores) Regulations 2019 (SI 631/2019)
These regulations repeal and replace earlier legislation from the 1970s. They govern the licensing of petrol filling stations and private stores and set requirements for the provision and maintenance of oil interceptors to prevent petroleum from escaping into the environment.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has enforcement powers under these regulations, including the ability to issue improvement or prohibition notices where non-compliance with licence conditions or risk assessments is identified.
Underground Storage Tank Integrity
The regulations also require periodic recording of underground tank contents to minimise leakage risks where:
-
The integrity of a tank is in doubt
-
A tank has been installed for more than 20 years
-
It is specified as a licence condition
-
It is required by a licensing authority notice
