What Is UN Packaging
Why UN Approved Packaging is Required
In most cases, the transport of dangerous goods (with limited exemptions such as small quantities) must be carried out in packaging certified to UN standards. International agreements such as ADR require packaging to be tested and certified by a national competent authority to ensure it is suitable for carrying specific dangerous goods.
These containers, often referred to as type-approved or UN certified packaging, are marked with the UN logo followed by alpha-numeric codes, as defined in Part 6 of ADR.
